This book was an awesome exploration of the ties that hold people together, even in the worst of circumstances. In a post-apocalyptic world, the few people who remain view the world and their lives very pragmatically. Everything in their lives have a very specific purpose, a means to an end. Things that have no tangible purpose are left and forgotten about. In the magical world, only one can save, but all are tied together in love and friendship.
